The band's Talent Development Programme (TDP) provides opportunities for students that have demonstrated strong music abilities or have prior music backgrounds to further develop their performance competencies.

 

Here, they will get to deepen their learning through additional training and enrichment activities. Members in this programme will get the chance to be mentored by established musicians from the industry to enrich their musical experience. 

 

Students may receive the opportunity to perform in an Ensemble, Combo Band or their own specific instrument as a soloist. Students may also have the option to explore additional genres of music of their choice or perform with instruments – such as the violin – in which they already have prior experience with

Students will get to play pieces of higher standards, and explore other genres of music (with a primary focus on pop music). Students may be required to attend additional practices and performances out of their full band commitments. 

 

Some features of the TDP include:

• Learn to play new instruments (e.g. Aerophone, Bass Guitar)

• Participation in additional performances which the band may not be involved (e.g virtual band performances, SYFpiecesReimagined)

• Perform additional songs at events

• Receive specialised / upgrades on instruments to play specific genres of music

• Play non-band instruments (e.g. keyboard, guitar, violin) and perform together with the band / combo band

• Differentiated learning programme (i.e. learn different skills/genres)

• Instrument graded exams
